The Farm
We're proud to be a local, sustainable farm committed to growing the freshest, most nutritious produce for our community. Our approach goes beyond conventional methods, focusing on regenerative agriculture to build healthy, living soil and a balanced ecosystem. We utilise innovative, closed-loop systems—from biochar production to aquaponics—to maximise resource efficiency and minimise our environmental footprint. Explore the sections below to learn more about the unique, eco-friendly practices that make our farm a hub of sustainable food production and ecological health.
Biochar & Wood Vinegar
On our farm, sustainability starts with minimising waste by processing wood scraps and natural debris in an oxygen-deprived environment, a process known as pyrolysis. This transforms potential waste into two powerful soil amendments: Biochar—a stable form of carbon that sequesters atmospheric CO2 and enhances soil structure—and Wood Vinegar (or pyroligneous acid)—a natural liquid extract used as a non-toxic pest repellent and growth stimulant. By incorporating biochar into our garden beds, we create permanent housing for beneficial soil microbes, drastically improving water retention and nutrient availability for truly living soil. This closed-loop system ensures we enrich our ground using only the resources we produce right here on the farm.
Worm Farm & Compost
Our extensive Worm Farm and composting operation are truly the heart of our nutrient management, transforming farm and kitchen scraps into the highest quality natural fertiliser. Millions of wriggling Red Wiggler worms are the unsung heroes, diligently consuming organic material to produce mineral-rich vermicompost and liquid "worm tea." This natural process—known as vermiculture—results in soil amendments packed with beneficial bacteria and fungi, essential for robust plant health and disease resistance. By diverting all suitable organic matter from landfills, we create a thriving ecosystem and produce potent, organic compost that gives our produce an unmatched flavour and nutritional boost.
Aquaponics Park
Our innovative Aquaponics Park is a recirculating system that elegantly combines aquaculture (raising fish) and hydroponics (growing plants without soil). The fish waste provides essential nutrients for the plants, and in return, the plants naturally filter the water before it cycles back clean for the fish, supported by a rich community of purifying microbes. This symbiotic relationship allows us to grow exceptional, clean produce while using up to 90% less water than traditional farming, making it an incredibly sustainable and water-wise method. The result is a continuous harvest of fresh, pesticide-free leafy greens and herbs, offering a taste of the future of clean, sustainable food systems.
Veg Beds
Across the farm, our diverse Vegetable Beds are cultivated using regenerative, no-till techniques focused on building deep, healthy soil structure and biodiversity. We rotate crops meticulously and utilise cover cropping to naturally manage pests and enrich the soil with organic matter, avoiding the need for synthetic fertilisers or harmful chemicals. From heirloom tomatoes to seasonal root vegetables, everything is grown from seed with an unwavering commitment to quality and ecological balance. Our team hand-harvests daily at the peak of ripeness, ensuring the freshest, most flavourful, and nutrient-dense local produce makes it directly from our beds to your table.
Bees & Honey
Our small, carefully managed apiaries host healthy colonies of honeybees, essential partners in our mission to promote biodiversity and ensure bountiful harvests across the property. These vital pollinators tirelessly visit our vegetable flowers, fruit trees, and the surrounding native flora, which is critical for setting fruit and seed production. We practice ethical beekeeping, ensuring the bees' health and well-being always come first, only harvesting surplus honey once their winter stores are secured. The result is our pure, raw, and deliciously complex local honey, a sweet taste of the farm’s successful ecosystem, and a testament to the importance of natural bee-friendly farming.
Fodder Sprouting
To ensure our small herd of livestock receives the most nutritious, greenest feed possible year-round, we operate a dedicated Fodder Sprouting system. Using simple racks and water, we rapidly sprout grains like barley into dense, highly digestible green mats in a matter of days. This indoor system provides a constant source of fresh, living feed that is packed with vitamins, enzymes, and beneficial properties that significantly improve animal health and well-being. This innovative practice reduces our reliance on externally sourced dry feed, lowers our feed costs, and guarantees that our animals are exceptionally healthy, which is key to producing the highest quality farm products.
Carpentry Workshop
Our on-site Carpentry Workshop is more than just a place for construction; it is a centre for sustainable design and fabrication, utilising wood from salvaged sources, storm fall, and our own managed forest systems. Here, we build and repair everything the farm needs, from custom raised veg beds and sturdy fencing to unique retail displays for the market and simple farm furniture. This approach allows us to minimise off-site purchasing, reduces our carbon footprint, and ensures that all our farm structures are built to last using traditional and natural methods. The workshop embodies our commitment to craftsmanship and self-sufficiency, creating a functional, beautiful, and authentic farming environment.
